Canada Post Selects Epson for 7000-Unit POS Printer Rollout
|
Canada Post selects Epson's TM-T88IV thermal POS printers with high-speed USB for a nationwide, 7000-unit rollout. The rollout began in July 2008 and is expected to continue throughout 2010. The product is being distributed through BlueStar Canada.
The TM-T88IV features spill resistance and drop-in paper loading. The TM-T88IV also features a small footprint and the same dimensions as the TM-T88III for drop-in replacement.
In addition, the TM-T88IV can be placed either on the countertop or wall using an optional wall-hanging bracket. The TM-T88IV offers flexible interface options, including high-speed USB, serial, parallel, Ethernet and wireless.

Tickets.com Adds Fraud Protection Software

Tickets.com adds Interceptas from Accertify as its credit card fraud prevention software. Accertify's front-end screening features help tickets.com identify suspicious orders and spend less time validating legitimate orders.
Its features and functionality also reduce manual reviews. Retailers become less dependent on internal IT resources and gain control over their fraud prevention efforts so they can modify and implement new rules, strategies and tools.

65 Retail Stores Close in Reno

Sixty-five local businesses closed their doors in the Reno-Sparks area last year. Among them, three ice cream shops, 12 restaurants, a movie theater and a grocery store.
A new retail report by Colliers International shows a local store vacancy rate of about 14 percent.
The Colliers report also predicts that the retail rent prices in the area will go down about 20 percent in the next year, even in prime store front locations.
Nationwide, 150,000 stores closed last year, helping lead to more than two million jobs lost. According to the Colliers report, economic forecasters are predicting another 200,000 store closures in 2009, including between 2,000 and 3,000 shopping malls.
