Safeway Launches Electronic Coupon Service Across 1,500 Stores
|
Safeway launches AOL's Shortcuts.com, a free, paperless electronic
coupon service that applies coupons directly to the grocery store's
savings cards. Consumers visit Shortcuts.com, enter their store savings
card and select the coupons they want. Selected coupons are then loaded
to their grocery store savings card and the coupons are automatically
redeemed at checkout when the registered card is swiped. This
eliminates the need for shoppers to bring paper coupons to the store.
Access to the Shortcuts.com coupons also is available through
Shortcuts.com Mobile, which enables shoppers the convenience of loading
coupons onto their store savings cards while on the go. From their cell
phones or smart phones, users click on the coupons they want and within
minutes of selection, the coupons are ready for use on the shoppers'
grocery store savings cards.
"Shoppers are spending more and more time online and we see electronic
coupons loaded to their shopper card as a way to better serve our
customers," says Michelle Marian, vice president of interactive
marketing, Safeway. "As Safeway launches the new couponLink program,
we're excited to partner with Shortcuts.com to offer our customers a
unique way to save at our stores and online. Also our customers who
shop online at Safeway.com can use the digital coupons, which are a new
and exciting option for them."

Wal-Mart Enhances Merchandise Planning Software
|
Wal-Mart signs a global license agreement to roll out Galleria’s configured store and merchandise planning software system in the U.K.
The Galleria system connects the assortment and space-planning business
processes while providing scalability and automation. Galleria analyzes
performance data in conjunction with forecast data, which results in
stock that reflects future demands on a store-by-store basis, instead
of a purely historic view.

Price Chopper Adds Real-Time Enterprise Labor Modeling
|
Price Chopper deploys real-time enterprise labor modeling software from
Logile. The grocer implements Logile's Enterprise Labor Model,
Interaction Calendar, Sales and Labor Planning, Execution Compliance,
and Enterprise Performance Management and Reporting modules at all 119
Price Chopper supermarkets.
"Logile's solutions allow us to fully realize and sustain the
tremendous savings associated with our chain-wide adoption of 5-S,
preferred work methods, and engineered labor standards," says David
Golub, vice president of store operations, Golub Corporation.
Prior to implementing Logile's solutions, Price Chopper faced a
challenge common to retailers - the inability to accurately calculate,
plan, and measure the true cost of store labor and to monitor
compliance of preferred work methods, and went on to state that
"We now have an enterprise solution that allows us to understand our
labor costs from the chain level down to the sub department level,"
says Golub. "With this detailed understanding, we effectively plan our
annual labor budgets and also optimize our sales and labor plans for
each of the periods and weeks based on updated sales, volume forecasts
and customers' current shopping behaviors."

Zealand, selects RedPrairie's Workforce Management software to maximize

Farmers offers a wide range of products, including appliances,

The company employs a variety of store formats, spanning full range

General Growth Properties Launches Mall-Based Mobile Advertising Network
|
General Growth Properties launches The Club Mobile, the country's first
nationwide mall-based mobile advertising network from Mobisix, a mobile
marketing products and services company. The Club Mobile is an
extension of The Club, GGP's existing on-line consumer marketing
program that sends email notifications of mall sales and events to an
exclusive list of opt-in members. The Club Mobile extends the value of
The Club by delivering discounts and offers to on-the-go consumers
through text messages.
"This type of marketing innovation is a great example of how we are
meeting the needs of today's consumer," says Keith Maladra, vice
president of consumer intelligence at General Growth. "We believe this
provides a unique tool for our retailers and gives value to our
consumers by allowing them control of what type of offers they receive
and how they receive them. The bottom line: we want to help our retail
tenants drive store traffic, and this is a great way to accomplish
that."
Consumers can join The Club Mobile by visiting www.TheClubMobile.com
and entering their mobile phone number and other preference data. As an
additional incentive to join, the program is offering a chance to win a
$1,000 shopping spree.
The Club Mobile is powered by Mobisix and
its proprietary messaging platform, which is designed around
consumer-controlled preferences and data and analytics-driven
decisions. This technology allows consumers to get relevant and
personal offers. In addition, the platform acts as a key enabler of
green marketing by allowing brands and consumers to take advantage of
shopping incentives and coupons without printing.
