Merchant Warehouse Releases Secure Pay @ The Table App
|
Merchant Warehouse has
released MerchantWARE
Pay @ The Table with BINsmart,
a secure wireless payment option that brings payment to the
customer in a fast, efficient and secure manner, and helps merchants
improve their operational costs. Pay @ The Table with BINsmart
incorporates all the features of Merchant Warehouse’s BINsmart product,
which identifies whether the method of payment is via credit or debit
card then prompts for the less expensive transaction, saving the
merchant on interchange fees.
The MerchantWARE Pay @ The Table with BINsmart solution is customized
for each merchant and integrated with the wireless Ingenico
I7780, a Bluetooth enabled light-weight and secure terminal that is
operational up to 600 feet from the main POS terminal. Credit card data
is encrypted using Bluetooth technology between the wireless terminal
and the POS and then transported via a SSL connection to the Merchant
Warehouse payment gateway where data is tokenized and returned to the
POS for final transaction. The I7780 integrated with MerchantWARE Pay @
The Table with BINsmart not only improves operational costs, it is the
ideal, wireless solution for table-side payments, patio service,
curb-side payments, drive-thru payments and seasonal check-outs.
"This is exciting technology that enables the merchant to have complete
control of their environment from operating costs to the customer
experience," said Henry Helgeson, co-CEO of Merchant Warehouse. "On the
flip-side the customer maintains control over their payment experience,
as they can see the card throughout the payment process which is
transacted at their table, and merchants are given additional peace of
mind that their customers’ card data is safe. Bottom line, bills are
settled faster, and the overall customer and staff experience is greatly
improved and card data is secured."

NEC’s 32-Inch Display Ideal for SMBs
|
NEC Display Solutions of
America has launched its new V Series with the debut of the 32-inch
V321, a value-driven LCD display ideal for those new to the digital
signage market. The V321 succeeds the MultiSync LCD3215, offering new
digital signage features that will benefit customers with robust
runtimes in restaurants, corporate lobbies and conference rooms.
The V Series was designed with small businesses in mind, for those
applications that require commercial-grade technology on a limited
budget. The high-definition V321 presents new, convenient features that
simplify the customer experience, such as the built-in text ticker
feature.
This enhancement enables end users to dedicate a portion of the
screen to emergency warnings or breaking news. While the primary,
scheduled content is displayed and fills the majority of the screen, the
secondary ticker information can be displayed on the lower, remaining
portion of the screen through a separate input. Other improved features
include quick input change for faster switching between sources,
advanced terminal settings and monitoring and control over Ethernet,
including email notifications in the event the display encounters an
error. Additionally, its SPVA panel contributes to the increase in
contrast ratio from 800:1 to 3000:1 and the reduced number of CCFLs,
relating directly to the decrease in mercury content.
The V321 supports video walls of up to 25 displays in a 5x5
configuration using TileMatrixT, an improvement from the 4x4 capability
in the MultiSync LCD3215. The display also allows individual or group
identities with only one command, where users can address monitors
individually, as an entire group or defined sub-groups. Certain settings
can be customized within each group, providing further flexibility.
The V321 will be available for April 2010 shipment at an estimated
street price of $649. The displays ship with a 3-year parts and labor
warranty, including the backlight. Extended warranties of 4- and 5-years
are available for purchase.

Thermal, RFID Printer Models Reduce Energy Consumption, Utility Bills
|
Printronix Inc. announced
that its T5000r thermal barcode and SL5000r radio frequency
identification (RFID) printers are the only thermal printers in their
class to meet the latest 2009 ENERGY STAR Program Requirements for
Imaging Equipment. Printronix's new ENERGY STAR printers will help
companies reach their corporate sustainability initiatives by reducing
energy consumption and utility bills.
The ENERGY STAR is earned only by those products that meet the strict
energy efficiency guidelines set forth by the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy.
Printronix has added several standard features to the T5000r thermal
barcode and SL5000r RFID printers to help businesses not only
accommodate current applications, but also plan for the future. Each
printer now comes with Ethernet built in and the highest memory in the
industry at 64MB DRAM and 16MB Flash. Enhanced label sensing technology
expands the range of media customers can use. In addition, the T5000r
thermal bar code printer is field upgradable to RFID to meet the
changing demands of business applications. The SL5000r RFID printer
includes EPCglobal Class 1 Gen 2 certified hardware. Both the T5000r and
SL5000r offer optional functionality for wireless environments when
combined with Printronix’s mobile PrintCart. The lower power consumption
enables prolonged use of the printer, resulting in less frequent
charging and productivity improvement.
"As passive RFID becomes more core to enterprises and value chains, the
role of printers and applicators will be greatly expanded," said Drew
Nathanson, director of research operations, VDC Research. "The RFID
industry is poised for significant gains over the next five years, with
several printer supported applications, such as supply chain management,
ticketing and baggage handling, fueling much of the growth."
