Tasti D-Lite Finds New In-Store Application for iPads
|
Dessert franchise Tasti D-Lite is re-purposing Apple's iPad to serve as customer information kiosks at all new locations moving forward, writes Jennifer Van Grove of Mashable. The iPads, internally referred to as "TastiPads," run a custom built Tasti D-Lite application and will also be phased in at existing locations.
The iPads are housed within a Tasti D-Lite-branded case and mounted inside stores. Customers can interface with the device to pull up nutritional information on flavors, read up on Tasti D-Lite's history, sign up for flavor alerts, electronically sign the store guestbook and register their TreatCards.

Fine Dining Restaurants Look to Boost Loyalty with Mobile Marketing

The Texas-based Kent Rathbun Concepts, Jasper's Austin and Rathbun's Blue Plate Kitchen in Dallas, the Denver-based Marlowe's and the Chicago-based Bella Bacinos Italian Bistro and Pizzeriaare now partnering with Mocapay to engage with consumers and build a loyal following.
"Our mission is to connect people with great food," says Kent Rathbun, owner and executive chef of Kent Rathbun Concepts. "Mobile complements this mission by allowing us to connect with our customers inside and outside our restaurants. The Mocapay mobile platform allows us to enhance our relationships and keep our customers coming back for more."
Using Mocapay's mobile suite, these restaurants are now able to target their customers with exclusive specials and loyalty perks, both in and out of each location. Depending upon mobile services utilized, restaurant customers will be able to participate in mobile-to-mobile gifting and accrue/redeem loyalty rewards from the convenience of their mobile phone.

Subway, IPC Bestow Tech Rookie of the Year Award to POS Vendor

Subway restaurants and the Independent Purchasing Cooperative (IPC) have awarded ParTech, Inc. the annual Rookie of the Year award in the technology category.
"In its first full year as a hardware supplier for Subway POS, PAR has consistently demonstrated exceptional performance in all major award criteria including customer service, continuous improvement, operational execution, and feedback from Subway franchise owners," says Marina O'Rourke, director of retail technology, Subway. PAR has been a hardware supplier for Subway POS since 2009. The Subway POS solution includes PAR EverServ 6000 POS terminals and all the required peripherals. PAR also provides Subway franchisees with optional on-site service and professional equipment installation for the Subway POS solution.

SecureConnect Solution Aids in Compliance of PCI Requirement 11.2

With the recent introduction of new packages, BHI SecureConnect has introduced internal vulnerability scanning to provide customers with an additional layer of protection.
Available as a component of the SecureConnect Elite package, internal vulnerability scanning assists in securing internal networks and complying with PCI requirement 11.2, by proactively identifying weaknesses within a company's internal network environment.
Requirement 11.2 of the PCI DSS states, "Run internal and external network vulnerability scans at least quarterly and after any significant change in the network."
Most business owners don't consider that a devastating security breach could originate from their internal networks. Attackers can be anyone from disgruntled employees, internal thieves or external hackers that are able penetrate networks through an unsecure internal access point. By implementing internal vulnerability scanning as part of a vulnerability management program, companies can significantly reduce their risk of being compromised. If an attacker does manage to penetrate the network perimeter, proper internal security can contain the attack to avoid further penetration.
Like all SecureConnect services, quarterly internal vulnerability scans are fully-managed by SecureConnect security experts. SecureConnect assesses each asset and identifies attack vectors. Once the in-scope environment has been scanned, SecureConnect evaluates those vulnerabilities, reduces false/positives and presents the results in a customized report. SecureConnect employees are on-hand to provide guidance in remediation.

ParTech Joins PCI Security Standards Council as Newest Participating Organization

ParTech, Inc. has joined the PCI Security Standards Council as a new participating organization. As a Participating Organization, PAR will work with the Council to evolve the PCI Data Security Standard (DSS) and other payment card data protection standards.
The PCI DSS, endorsed by American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB International, MasterCard Worldwide and Visa Inc., requires merchants and service providers that store, process or transmit customer payment card data to adhere to information security controls and processes that ensure data integrity.
As a Participating Organization, PAR will now have access to the latest payment card security standards from the Council, be able to provide feedback on the standards and become part of a growing community that now includes more than 500 organizations. In an era of increasingly sophisticated attacks on systems, adhering to the PCI DSS represents an entity's best protection against data criminals. By joining as a Participating Organization, PAR is adding its voice to the process.
