Crate and Barrel Installs In-Store Traffic Counting Technology |
Crate and Barrel Installs In-Store Traffic Counting Technology from
ShopperTrak RCT. Under the agreement, Crate and Barrel installs
ShopperTrak's Orbit 5 retail traffic technology at the entranceways and
in high volume traffic areas throughout each level of Crate and
Barrel's 150-store chain. Additionally, the company will utilize
ShopperTrak's suite of System Management Services (SMS) to process data
culled from the Orbit 5 devices. SMS helps provide the retailer with
added value to the traffic analysis process by helping to ensure the
integrity of traffic intelligence and providing multiple, customized
options for the delivery of data.
According to Ed Rennemann, chief information officer and vice president
of management information systems for Crate and Barrel, following a
lengthy competitive search, Crate and Barrel chose ShopperTrak based on
the accuracy of the company's traffic data.
"As any leading retailer that is always looking to improve, we did a
thorough competitive analysis when trying to choose the best vendor to
meet our traffic counting needs," says Rennemann. "Although we started
with a fairly long list of potential vendors, ShopperTrak's ability to
quickly deliver accurate traffic counts in three very different pilot
stores made them the ideal partner for us. This level of accuracy
coupled with ShopperTrak's knowledge of the retail industry made our
decision very clear. ShopperTrak's technology will provide us with the
ability to more accurately monitor our key business practices, like
scheduling labor to more effectively meet the traffic flow in our
stores," says Rennemann.

eBay Launches Online Marketplace for Eco-Friendly Products |
eBay unveils a new e-commerce marketplace called WorldofGood.com by
eBay, which offers eco-friendly products that help consumers align
their social values with their shopping.
Whether consumers are looking to purchase products made from recycled
or natural materials, buy organic or support artisan women in
developing nations, WorldofGood.com delivers a socially responsible
shopping experience. Products, producers and sellers on the site are
verified by various third parties called Trust Providers - like
TransFair USA (Fair Trade Certified), Co-op America and Aid to
Artisans - to meet a core set of ethical and environmental standards.
"WorldofGood.com by eBay gives shoppers who care about making a
difference access to great products that help people and the planet,"
says Lorrie Norrington, president of eBay Marketplaces. "Socially
responsible shopping just got bigger and better."
People Positive and Eco Positive items offered on WorldofGood.com span
15 categories such as home and garden, art, jewelry, clothing and even
food items. For example, socially responsible shoppers can purchase
fair trade coffee, accessories and home decor items made from recycled
materials, organic clothing and animal-friendly beauty products on the
site.
WorldofGood.com's Goodprint labeling system is like a nutritional label
for each product on the site, allowing shoppers to see the positive
social and environmental impact each purchase makes - whether it
provides economic empowerment to people, conserves energy, supports
animal species preservation, or is made of recycled, organic and/or
sustainable materials.
"We created the WorldofGood.com marketplace to enable shoppers to
purchase socially responsible products with confidence," says Robert
Chatwani, general manager of WorldofGood.com by eBay. "Regardless of
the social causes most important to consumers, they can easily shop for
items according to a variety of different attributes, allowing them to
customize their shopping impact."

Frederick’s of Hollywood Partners with Demandware for E-Commerce |
Frederick's of Hollywood selects the Demandware E-Commerce Platform for
its online business needs. Frederick's uses Demandware's platform to
provide merchandising functionality and site control.
As the U.S. women's lingerie market has become increasingly competitive
with traditional apparel manufacturers launching their own lingerie
lines, Frederick's needed a way to grow its online sales while
maintaining the flexibility to make site changes as market requirements
dictate. Demandware's on-demand platform scales to Frederick's business
needs, while helping the retailer have control over its brand and
online shopping experience, product merchandising and day-to-day site
management. Frederick's marketers and merchandisers also can quickly
add new promotions online using Demandware's rules-based promotions
engine. Because the Demandware E-Commerce Platform is delivered
on-demand, Frederick's also receives automatic upgrades.
"As we look to grow our online business and differentiate ourselves
from the competition, we selected Demandware because we knew we
required a stable solution that is capable of scaling to our business
needs," says Linda LoRe, president and CEO, Frederick's of Hollywood.
