Tesco Enhances Online Shopping Experience with RealRelevance
|
Tesco Direct selects ChoiceStream RealRelevance to enhance its customers' online
shopping experience.
Tesco Direct replaces its manually-generated recommendations on the Web with
automated, personalized recommendations on product detail and shopping cart pages.
ChoiceStream RealRelevance leverages available data and applies a variety of algorithmic
techniques based on the company's years of experience to deliver recommendations
possible for each user.
Tesco Direct is evaluating ways to implement ChoiceStream recommendations to increase
customer satisfaction. Additionally, Tesco Direct will look to reduce costs by replacing the
company's time-consuming, manual recommendation process with ChoiceStream's automated, hosted SaaS solution.
"We were impressed with ChoiceStream's creative and innovative
solutions and we are excited to be working with them on this project,"
says Jason Merron, senior operations development manager, Tesco Direct.

Loblaw Deploys Enterprise Resource Planning from SAP |
Loblaw selects SAP to provide software for the renewal and enhancement
of its information systems and processes. Using a phased and structured
rollout, Loblaw will leverage SAP to drive improvements in the
company's order management, perpetual inventory, pricing management,
financials, human resources and master data management.
Loblaw leverages the SAP NetWeaver technology platform. The company
will also implement functionality from the SAP ERP application for
enterprise resource planning and the SAP for Retail solutions to
replace its legacy applications.
"We chose SAP because its solutions are industry-proven, require
minimal customization and can offer true end-to-end integrated
capabilities," said Catherine Booth, senior vice president, information
technology, Loblaw Companies Limited. "This in turn will not only help
us mitigate risk, but through the use of these solutions, will allow us
to be more efficient in our processes."

Pacific Sunwear Implements Order Fulfillment Software |
Pacific Sunwear installs an automated material handling system from
Dematic for the company's new distribution center located in Olathe,
Kansas.
PacSun implements Dematic's C-L series of motorized roller conveyors,
the new Dematic FlexSort SL sorter and a Dematic Put to Light order
fulfillment system. Dematic's warehouse control system provides order
fulfillment, material flow control, incident management, maintenance
management and advanced performance analysis capabilities.
An advanced Incident Management system alerts operators to any event
that inhibits the material flow through the PacSun system. A
Performance Management solution provides warehouse performance analysis
capabilities for continued optimization.
PacSun needed to accommodate up to 93 packers simultaneously. It also
wanted to support its newest retail concept, 'one thousand steps', a
specialty footwear store chain targeted toward customers seeking
fashion forward footwear.
"Dematic came in and delivered a solution to PacSun in roughly half the
time it would normally have taken," says Kirk Williams, director of DC
operations, PacSun. "Dematic was one of the few companies that fully
understood our business objectives and could deliver the solution on

Bass Pro Shops Add Demand Forecasting |
Bass Pro Shops select demand forecasting software applications from
Churchill Systems. Bass Pro Shops, an outdoor retailer, has destination
outdoor retail stores across America and Canada.

Nash Finch Company Adds Master Data Management
|
Nash Finch Company, a U.S. wholesale grocery distributor, chooses
Aldata G.O.L.D. for its pre-referential and master data management
solutions. The project was initiated in early November.
Nash Finch's core business, food distribution, serves independent
retailers and military commissaries in 31 states, the District of
Columbia, Europe, Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Azores and Egypt. The Company
also owns and operates a base of retail stores, primarily supermarkets
under the Econofoods, Family Thrift Center, AVANZA and Sun Mart.
VeriFone Releases Contactless PINPad 1000SE

VeriFone Holdings introduces a contactless version of its PINpad
1000SE. VeriFone also unveils SingleCI (Single Contactless Interface),
a unifying programming interface with development tools that allows
retailers to leverage existing contactless investments, adapt to future
needs, and take advantage of the company's contactless portfolio.
The contactless PINpad 1000SE combines two payment peripherals - PIN
entry and contactless. The PCI PED approved PINpad1000SE contactless
version is backward-compatible with earlier versions, and features USB
or serial connectivity that enable connection to electronic cash
registers and POS devices.
